Computer Simulation

Wide ranging studies undertaken using CFD and computer simulation cements Seaspeed as a leading consultancy in marine system performance assessment.

Work involving military ro/ro vessels moored and loading/unloading in exposed conditions allowed mooring line and bollard arrangements and strengths to be optimised as well as determining the relative motions of the ship and pontoons and limiting conditions in which the loading activites could safely take place.

Other studies have involved crew transfer vessels operating against offshore wind turbine docking poles in exposed conditions, the motion and drift of large floating booms designed to collect plastic rubbish on the sea surface, determination of the limiting conditions for a crew boat deploying an active motion compensated gangway against an offshore structure in wind, waves and tide and the station keeping and docking ability of large catamarans in high winds.
